Tomorrow’s walk – Sunday 28th

Walks 2014 Posted on 27 December 2014 16:36

June is worried about tomorrow’s walk. There are no buses coming up this way at present – both 120 and 51 stopping at the Hallamshire – and the roads are definitely not clear to drive up unless you have a 4×4! It is also supposed to be freezing overnight so they will be very slippery.

June (and I) will be at the bus stop at 9.46 in case they get going again (unlikely before Monday morning I reckon) or anyone walks here and she’ll improvise a walk. She’ll put the planned walk in at a later date.

We’ll have to see how we go for Wednesday. There are no buses out to Fox House at the moment but there’s time for that to change.

Sunday 28th December

Christmas pudding and Brandy Butter!!!!
I will meet the 120 bus at Barncliffe Road terminus (leaves Cathedral at 0930). Mainly downhill so lots of spare puff for chatter.

Burntstones, Bell Hagg path cleared by Fixit, River Rivelin path (watched a kingfisher there last week!!!). Plenty of opportunities to lengthen the walk and cafe and toilets! Tram at Malin Bridge.

Come and enjoy the fun. Happy Christmas.

Thanks for your encouragement on walks. smiley

Hi everyone,

Can anyone give me a rough idea what time the above walk will finish tomorrow?

Margaret and Leonie’s walk. Wed 26th Nov.

Walks 2014 Posted on 23 November 2014 11:08

Wentworth Follies: 10.06 Leeds train to Elsecar. Return 4.33 (16.33).

You should buy an “ANYTIME DAY RETURN” ticket (£6.00) £3.00 for bus pass holders.

The SOUTH YORKSHIRE GOLD ticket (£7.50) might be a better option for those without passes.
See you there. Leonie and Margaret.

As the train leaves Sheffield before 9.30, half fares do not apply (although they will from Meadorwhall). The fare is £4.60 (£3.05 with a railcard).
The fare from Conisbrough is £4.30 and half fares and railcards apply.

For some people it will be better to buy a South Yorkshire Travelmaster Gold £7.50). This can be used all day on buses, trams and trains

David and Leonie.

October 5th Coach Ramble

Walks 2014 Posted on 26 September 2014 21:03

On the 5th we are off to Sutton Bank, North Yorkshire to walk the Hambleton Hills. Walk details are on the blog. There are still quite a few empty seats on the coach. If you are already booked on the coach do try and encourage a friend to come too.

There is a cafe at the Sutton Bank Visitors Centre. By the time we finish our walks they will probably only be selling tea/coffee and cakes.
