Coach Ramble 29th September CANCELLED

General Posted on Sat, September 07, 2019 07:27:53

Hi All,

Im really sorry but we have had to cancel the September coach ramble to Reeth. Having made enquiries at tourist information we were told that all was well after the floods and it was only when the walk leaders went up to reccie the walks that they discovered that a major cycle event (UCI world championships) was in the Dales that Sunday and was going through Reeth causing road closures at the time of our arrival. Unfortunately given the short time remaining and other commitments it was not possible to reccie walks in an other area.

Please pass on this information to anyone who may not access the blog or email. I will try to contact everyone who has booked directly and will be refunding those who have paid.

We will be planning our coach trips for next year and building in an early check for road closures! We hope to go to Reeth and do the walks which were planned.

Coach Ramble 29th September Reeth

General Posted on Wed, August 28, 2019 19:16:15

The last coach ramble of. 2019 will be going to Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales. We are going to Reeth rather than to Kirby Stephen as. originally advertised as the journey time to Kirby Stephen was too long.

The coach will be leaving at 8.00 am from Arundel Gate/Howard St. There will as usual be two led walks. The A walk will be approximately 12 miles and led by David Hogg and Andy Irwin. The B walk of approximately 8 miles will be led by Judy Gathercole and Susan Rushworth. Both walks will finish in Reeth and the coach will depart at 6.00pm. Details of the walks will be on the website once the reccies have been completed.

Reeth is a village in a magnificent setting on a plateau above the river Swale. It has cafes and two pubs and the Swaledale museum which may be of interest to non walkers.

All are welcome on our coach rambles so please encourage family and friends to come along. It is fine to come along and walk independently or just explore the local area.

Places are £13. To book or for further information email: lizmsavage@aol.com or phone/text 07711353310

message from Chris Gamble

General Posted on Sat, June 15, 2019 13:09:10

Below is a message from Chris. I have never met Anne but hopefully someone who knows her will read the blog andpass th information on to other who might want to know.

Liz

Hi,

I hope this is the right email address for the committee. Last night I met the nephew of Anne Mazur, who used to walk with Sheffield Ramblers for many years. He told me she died recently after a short battle with cancer. Her funeral is this Tuesday, 18th June, 2pm at Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium.

I think there will be a number of ramblers who remember Anne so, if you feel it is appropriate, perhaps one of you could put it on the blog? I’m sorry, I’ve never put anything on the blog, so am not yet registered, and am not able at the moment to start the process of registering (grandchildren staying with us, and sleeping in the computer room!).

Thanks for that.

Chris Gamble

It is now time to make sure of your seat on our annual seaside trip.

We are visiting the Yorkshire Coast with the usual A and B rambles which will be starting from drop offs near the A 170 on the way to the coast and will progress through moorland, native woodland and farmland to finish with a section of the coast path.
