Christmas concert

General 2013 Posted on 13 December 2013 18:46

It’s rather short notice but Ecclesfield handbell ringers have their Christmas concert at 7.00 tomorrow (Saturday 14th December) at the Gatty Hall (just off Church Street opposite Ecclesfield church).
They will be joined by the Deepcar Brass Band and the Phoenix Singers. Tickets £5. Their concert is usually excellent so, if you aren’t already busy ………

Replacement walk Tuesday 18th June

Walks 2013 Posted on 12 June 2013 07:20

Tuesday 18th June: Replacement for cancelled walk

Tony Allsopp and I will lead a walk to Temple Newsam on Tuesday 18th June. We will catch the 10.06 Leeds train to Woodlesford (free with bus pass) arriving at 11.12. We then walk through lanes and fields into the estate.

This should be seen as a ‘taster’ of Temple Newsam as both the estate and the house are very large but the total walk will be around 8 -9 miles. There will be opportunities for people to visit the house if they wish (entrance fee £3.70).

We will aim to catch the 16.40 return train arriving in Sheffield at 17.56.

I will be on the platform at Sheffield station for the 10.06 train and Tony will join the train at Chapeltown.

Visit to Lincoln

General 2013 Posted on 15 April 2013 09:10

Leonie and I are visiting Lincoln on Wednesday this week (April17th) and would like to invite anyone interested to join us.

We will walk up from the station through the historic area round the cathedral where we will linger for a while and then do a walk of around 6-8 miles, ending in the marina at Brayford Pool (near to the railway station) for our return journey.

The train leaves Sheffield at 9.44, arriving at 11.06. We can travel free with our bus passes to Kiveton Park but unfortunately have to pay the rest of the route to Lincoln.

With a railcard this will cost £9.50 return. Without a railcard the fare is £13.70 return (Kiveton Park to Lincoln).

Return trains run every hour.

Just testing

Walks 2013 Posted on 12 April 2013 15:40

I have been having some problems registering for the blog and am just testing to see if I have finally been successful. Tony has already posted a message about an alternative walk on Sunday.
