Barry is retiring from the Fixit group. He will pass on the strimmer to Christine Whittaker and a hack (mattock) which has the identifying striped tape on it. However, he is trying to locate his own hack which someone took home from a previous job in error. It has a wooden handle marked Barry or B&C with black marker pen. The writing may have faded somewhat but he would like it back to pass on to his offspring. While we are in lockdown would you please check the tools you are storing and contact us on email: firstname.lastname@example.org or 07742 677205. Thank you.
The Old Horns menu can be found on their website. I have also downloaded the menu which I can attach to an email if I have your email address. I can also send a paper copy by post if required. My contact details are: email@example.com or text/phone 07742 677205.
For anyone who missed the earlier blog the date is Monday 16th September at the Old Horns Inn, High Bradfield at 12:00 midday. I have to submit numbers and menu choices the week before. There are 22 names to date.
I have been asked about a present for Barry. I know he would like an angler’s folding fishing chair so I have suggested a gift voucher from Fishing Republic which is on John Street (not far from Go Outdoors). Any contributions are entirely voluntary – there is no obligation at all. The problem is collecting them. I will be at Jan’s house on Saturday 31st August for the Fixit Bring and Share at lunchtime. Or we usually see Dorothy Birch at Ponds Forge (leading Good Companions walk Sun 1st Sept). Also Pat Langford’s Good Companions walk Sun 8th Sept is another opportunity. David Goodchild is leading the Co-op walk on Sun 8th if you see him prior to that. Dorothy, Pat and David are all going to the Old Horns.
So far we have managed to keep it secret from Barry!
Barry Ashton’s 80th birthday is in September and a lunchtime get together has been arranged for Monday 16th September at the Old Horns Inn, High Bradfield for 12:00 midday. Numbers have to be submitted so please let me know if you are coming by the 9th September. You can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or text/phone my mobile 07742 677205.
The pub also needs to know menu choices in advance. Two meals for £7 will also be on offer. The menu is changing soon so when that is available I will give you an update.
Barry does not know about this so try and keep it secret! Fortunately he does not use the computer.
Presenters Harry Gration, Paul Hudson and Amy Garcia will be pulling a red sofa round Yorkshire for a week to raise money for Sport Relief.
