I think most people will know, by now, of the navigation courses being run for us by Peak Park Rangers but putting it here might catch one or two more.

We are doing 2 sessions – the first is on Saturday March 12th and is a basic navigation course which will also include some work on route planning and leading a group. The second date is Saturday April 23rd and is more advanced navigation but will also (I hope!) be suitable for those of us who know stuff in theory but could do with some revision! It could also include some planning stuff if we want it, I’m sure.

Both courses are all day and will take place at Langsett where there are indoor facilities which we can use for the theory before we venture outside. Because the car park there does get busy we hope to use car sharing and take as few cars as possible. They are all day courses so you will need lunch etc. The courses will run from 10am until approximately 4pm.

As the group is paying for the courses we do ask that everyone taking part does lead walks for the group. If you have never led a group before or are wary of taking it on we would like to emphasize that you would not be left just to get on with it but could be partnered with another leader and work together. The first session, in particular, would perhaps be helpful for new potential leaders.

Please let us know by February 20th which course you would like to go on by emailing rambles@sheffieldramblers.org.
