I asked the Patterdale Hotel for an update on their flood news and they kindly gave the following information which may be useful for travellers.

“Regarding the floods, we were extremely lucky here at the hotel, the area is very much open for business, you can gain access from the South via the Kirkstone Pass, from the North via the A66 and the A591 through Dockray or from Penrith off the M6 following the A591 along the lake road avoiding Pooley Bridge.”

As there is now a bus running from Penrith on Sundays I will probably travel by train. Is anyone else intending to do that?
