On Terry’s WW1 walk on Saturday 1st March we were looking at a bronze age circular structure on Quarry Hill when a mountain hare shot out from under our feet. I don’t know who was more surprised the hare or us. Its ‘form’, where a hare hides in the vegetation, was just inches from my foot. I have not had one as close before.
The hare had a little bit of brown and grey but it was still displaying its white winter coat. It shot off and finally stopped at a safe distance from us. Luckily I had my new camera with me so here’s the hare.
