Network Rail are proposing the development of the Hope Valley Railway Line at Longshaw to build a passing loop for slow freight/local trains.
Several of us picked up a National Trust Leaflet on our Sunday Walk yesterday that was expressing concerns with the potential impact of this proposal on Rough Wood the ancient woodland next to the railway line near Grindleford as well as an area of hay meadows. These plans would also impact on footpaths with temporary closures.
If you have views on the proposals there is a Public Consultation open until Friday 6th December 2013. Details of the proposals and an online consultation form can be found on Network Rail’s Website:

The plan printout on an A4 sheet is almost impossible to read even with the use of a magnifying glass and gives no real detail as to how the landscape and scenery is affected. There are no cross sections or views given showing the existing ground situation and the proposed new slopes and views. Unless further detailed information can be provided a Public Consultation date only up to the 6th December 2013 is insufficient. Does anyone know what the Peak Parks Board, National Trust, Ramblers Head Office and other bodies position is on this matter matter?
