Unfortunately we are going to have to postpone our car ramble to Black hill on Sunday ( 10th). Malcolm and I started to recce it today. The snow got deeper and deeper as we ascended. It was very slow going. We trudged on for 2 hours and managed to get to 1,730 ft but by then there were no more footprints going in our direction and we were worried about losing the path and falling in the huge snowdrifts. Also more snow is forecast for the next 2 days, which probably means the car park at Crowden( which is down a steep hill) might be inaccessable or Woodhead might be closed. I hope I’ve convinced you. So the car ramble will now be on SUNDAY 11TH AUGUST. Please make a note in your book.
We will still meet at Middlewood tram terminus this Sunday at 9.26 and do an 11 mile moderate circular walk via Wadsley Park Village, Low Ash, Storth Lane, Ewden, Wharncliffe Crags and Beeley Woods.
